Meet Gail Wilber, Maine’s Outstanding Mom
Written by webmaster on November 29, 2010
Gail Wilber lives in Sanford, Maine with her husband, Joe, and is enjoying her newlywed status after their wedding this past July 4th. Their flock of children include Shawn, 21, a college senior, Coral, 20, a hair stylist, Danielle, 19, a college sophmore, Morgan, 18, a college freshman, Joey, age 16, Grace, age 8, and TJ, age 6. In the spaces between family life, Gail is a construction project manager for a large developer along the New England seacoast. Gail had the privilege of managing the construction of the first entirely geothermal, energy star, single family home development in the state of New Hampshire.
The door to the Wilber household is always open and with so many children who are young adults, that door is a constantly revolving door! Gail is very involved in the lives of all her children. Grace and TJ are homeschooled and there is a never ending line-up of activities and events amongst her older children.
Gail regularly volunteers in community outreach programs through her church and dedicates her time at her local domestic abuse shelter. She has been involved in awareness programs and fund raising throughout New England to combat domestic abuse for several years. Gail believes that every child deserves a safe and secure home life and that must begin with helping the parents who are victims of domestic abuse.
Some of Gail’s personal interests include music; she plays the harp and the piano, and board games of any kind. Gail competed in pageants as a teenager and held the title of Miss Maine American Coed 1987. She is surprised to find herself participating in a pageant 25 years later and pleased to find an organization that honors motherhood, what she considers her present pageant “talent”.
